We will discuss the state of written sources, their interpretations, and the influence of historians' concepts on general archaeological work.
We will highlight the situation in Poland after World War II and the intellectual contribution of Polish scholars to Stalin's vision of a new division of Europe.
The contributions of the Jubilees to research will also be highlighted.
The accounts of Ibrahim ibn Yakub and Dagome iudex will also be included. We will explore the absurdities and nonsense that form the foundations of the contemporary understanding of Poland's origins.

Learning outcomes - knowledge

Possesses chronologically and thematically organized knowledge of the concepts of historiography and archaeology regarding the history of the beginnings of Poland and its connections with the history of Central Europe; knows the most important topics discussed by historians and archaeologists

Understands the importance of discussions about the beginnings of medieval Poland for monographic and synthetic approaches and narrative accounts, general social perceptions and political discussions.

Is aware of the importance of social perceptions of the past for contemporary social and political discussions.
