The History of the Byzantine Empire 1202-OG-EN-HOBE
In course of this lecture the students receive a overwiew of political history of the eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire. I will start from the reign of the Emperor Diocletian, the creator of a political system (dominate) which prevail in the Byzantine era. Further students will deal with an overview of political history of Byzantium from the Late Roman Empire to the end of dynasty of Palaiologoi. During the lectures I will focus on the political, social and administrative history of Byzantium.

- The Isaurian and Amorian dynasties. The problem of iconoclasm.
- The ruling of Macedonian Dynasty: the peak of Byzantine power
-The time of Comnenid
- The 4th Crusade, the Fall of Constantinople and its consequences. Greek and Latin successor states.
-Byzantium under the rule of Palaiologian emperors. The sack of Constantinople in 1453
