Learning outcomes - knowledge
- (student) is able to identify the main elements of Roman funeral ceremonies,
- (student) will know the main types of sources used in the study of funerary ritual and burial in ancient Rome,
- (student) understands the relationship between different types of burial/commemoration and the social status of the deceased.

Students will be able to:
- analyse source material relating to burial and commemoration in the Roman world,
- identify individual elements of the form of tombstone inscriptions,
- determine the status and identity of persons appearing in analysed epigraphic texts
