Computer editing of text 1202-H-KOT-S2

During the classes, students are introduced to issues related to the development of various types of texts, written for both scientific (primarily) and commercial purposes. Students are also introduced to issues related to typography. After introductory classes introducing students to the issues of text development, during subsequent meetings with the instructor, they perform practical tasks, which are evaluated by the instructor. Difficulties related to the acquisition of information by students and its appropriate presentation in the text being developed are also discussed on an ongoing basis. The course ends with a practical test, during which participants must develop a text according to the criteria presented to them.

Classes requiring direct participation of the teacher: laboratory 15 hours 0,5 ECTS consultations 30hours 1 ECTS Self-study: final project preparation 45 hours 1,5 ECTS Total: 90 h

Learning outcomes - knowledge

Within the scope of knowledge: The students will have the theoretical knowledge about basic typography, layout design and desktop publishing. The students will know professional tools for desktop publishing.

Learning outcomes - skills

Within the scope of skills: The students will be able to create properly own paper or web oriented publication (also scientific papers). The students will be able to create basic types of layout design and typography due to design rules.

Learning outcomes - social competencies

Within the scope of social competence: The student will be able to evaluate the quality of analogue and digital (web oriented) documents but also make a basic judge their influence to the audience in terms of the design, typography and layout.
