(in Polish) Master's Diploma Seminar 1155-12-E21-0-Semin

The aim of the Master’s Diploma Seminar is to support students in the process of writing their MA theses which includes:
- identification of the research interests of students;
- discussion about MA thesis topics oriented to dealing with the problems of macroeconomics, microeconomics and international trade;
- formulation of MA thesis topics, aim and objectives, research problems and hypotheses;
- selection of information sources and research methods;
- teaching the principles of conducting literature surveys (including quoting and paraphrasing, citing and building reference lists);
- teaching the principles of academic writing and editing MA theses;
- teaching presentation of conclusions and recommendations for business practice, politicians, government bodies, members of the monetary board of the central bank etc.

Contact hours with the teacher: - participation in seminars - 30 hrs -consultations - 40 hrs Self-study hours: - writing Master Thesis - 55 hrs Altogether: 125 hrs (5 ECTS)

Learning outcomes - knowledge

Student W1: has advanced knowledge of scientific writing about economic topics – K_W01 W2: is familiar with the requirements and methodology for the well prepared Master’s Theses – K_W06 W3: is familiar with methods, tools and techniques of data searching, appropriate for the science of economics to use in advanced economics research – K_W06 W4: is acquainted with the basic knowledge on copyright law – K_W10

Learning outcomes - skills

Student U1: has the ability to carry out economic analysis of chosen complex problems of economic phenomena in a form of a written work – K_U01, K_U09 U2: has the ability to independently realize set goals and to collect essential literature and data – K_U13

Student K1: is well prepared to participate in the scientific discussions considering economic issues – K_K01 K2: is well prepared to propose new solutions and policy recommendations – K_K04

Teaching methods

The basic method is the seminar one. Within each group issues, problems, research methods, hypotheses and many other MA-related topics are discussed. Some parts require conventional lecture – this mostly concerns editorial process. Among other teaching methods could be listed: - PPT presentations, - case studies, - discussions, - classic problem-solving, - biographical.
