Diploma proseminar 0800-PA-DIPROS

Each student participating in the pro-seminar prepares and presents orally two issues related to his or her specialty or work thesis. Lectures are obligatorily supported by computer slideshows.
In addition to the level and content-related correctness, special attention is paid to:
1) the formal structure of the lecture,
2) proper preparation of slides,
3) clear substantive conclusions,
4) meeting time limits,
5) the ability to attract and keep the attention of listeners.

Each presentation is followed by a discussion in which all participants of the pro-seminar take part. It concerns
1) first, the substantive content of the paper,
2) and then, the formal and technical aspects of the presentation - speech and slide show.

Total student workload

- 15 hours with the participation of the teacher, - 45 hours of own work on the preparation of papers, presentations, written work. Total: 60 hours (2 ECTS)

Learning outcomes - knowledge

W1 - the student has in-depth knowledge of the detailed discipline in which he / she performs the diploma thesis (K_W01 - K_W06).

Learning outcomes - skills

U1 - the student is able to independently search for information in Polish and foreign - especially English - professional literature (K_U04, K_U05, K_U07 - K_U09); U2 - is able to present the results of own research and from the literature in written, oral and in a multimedia presentation, on specialist and popular level (K_U06 - K_U08); U3 - the student is able to critically evaluate and discuss the results of own and foreign research in the field studied (K_U06, K_U07); U4 - knows the English language to a degree that enables effective use of professional literature (K_U07 - K_U09); U5 - is aware of the need to meet deadlines (K_U09, K_U12).

Learning outcomes - social competencies

K1 - knows the limitations of his own knowledge and strives to expand it (K_K01); K2 - the student is able to formulate opinions on the issues of the studied field and understand the need to popularize its achievements (K_K03, K_K06); K3 - understands and appreciates the importance of intellectual honesty as well as research and professional integrity (K_K02).

It is assumed that the student entering the proseminar knows the computer program for preparing the slide show.

Assessment criteria

The condition for completing the course is the performance and presentation of two seminar papers (presentations) and their electronic delivery to the teacher.
The elements indicated in the "full description" field, activity in discussions and meeting deadlines are subject to evaluation.

Assessment of the speeches and prepared presentations verifies the learning outcomes: W1, U1, U2, U3, U4, U5, K1, K2, K3.
Assessment of participation in discussions checks the effects: U3, K1 and K2.
