Bioinformatics and biomodeling 0800-BK-BIOINMO

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the algorithms used in bioinformatics to facilitate the analysis of large amounts of data. Participants of the course will be familiarized with issues of biology such as gene research. They will learn what databases are needed and how to search them to, for example, find a specific gene. The classes will also cover the study of proteins and how computers can be used to solve major problems in this field.

W1 - the student is familiar with the structure of the cell, can describe the basic substances found in living matter, such as DNA, proteins and sugars, W1 - the student knows what are available databases related to biology and medicine, knows advanced tools for searching and comparing genetic sequences W3 - he/she understands the methods of computer simulation of proteins, is familiar with the applications and their limitations

U1 - student potrafi przeszukiwać bazy danych bioinformatycznych, samodzielnie zdobywać wiedzę i wyciągać wnioski U2 - potrafi ocenić, na podstawowym poziomie, przydatność metod i narzędzi informatycznych oraz wybrać i zastosować właściwe do typowych zadań U2 - student potrafi używać prgramów do wizualizacji dynamiki molekularnej U3 - student potrafi przygotować układ do dynamiki molekularnej
