Fundamentals of criminal chemistry 0600-S2-CKR-PCK
During the training, information will be provided on how to reveal fingerprint traces using various chemical substances, depending on the substrate on which the trace is located, used as standard in fingerprint examinations. In addition, methods of revealing original vehicle number fields using chemical mixtures, used in the case of removal of original numbers or their alteration, will be discussed. The types of chemical tests performed in forensic laboratories will also be presented, including a detailed discussion of chemical techniques used: in the tests of flammable substances and post-fire materials to identify compounds used for arson, tests of alcohols to distinguish industrial products suitable for consumption, prepared for criminal purposes or made at home, tested narcotics, psychotropic substances along with their basic qualification to individual chemical groups, identification of unknown compounds (including in cases of property damage or life-threatening situations), tests of microtraces (glass, paint coatings, fibers, etc.), tests of explosives and analysis of ethanol content in body fluids along with reference to statutory provisions. Methods of preparing samples for testing will be presented depending on the type of material and the scope of tests ordered. The principles of quantitative tests will be discussed on the example of the analysis of selected active substances in so-called drugs. Additionally, basic methods of checking the correct operation of the applied research equipment will be discussed. Examples will be provided to illustrate how to interpret test results in relation to the scope of the opinion and the principles of drawing conclusions and preparing a full chemical opinion.
