Fundamentals of Biology 0600-S2-CKR-PB

Lectures include: Fundamentals of cell biology, with particular emphasis on neuronal biology; cell life cycle, necrosis, apoptosis, and aging; intercellular signaling; Mendelian genetics; stem cells.

Discussion of individual systems in the context of maintaining homeostasis in the human body.

Learning outcomes - knowledge

The student describes the principles of life organization at individual levels using appropriate botanical and zoological terminology. The student explains the mechanisms of the human body and understands the integration processes and interactions between individual systems

The student is able to find professional sources of biological knowledge in order to deepen and synthesize it.

Learning outcomes - social competencies

The student rationally and critically approaches information obtained from scientific literature, the Internet and other sources of mass media, as well as common beliefs relating to biological processes

Assessment criteria

Lecture credit: attendance at lectures - mandatory (max. 2 absences allowed); positive assessment of the final colloquium

Assessment criteria: required threshold for a satisfactory grade - 55-60%, satisfactory plus - 61-70%, good - 71-80%, good plus 81-90%, very good - 91-100%.
