Physico-chemical methods for characterizing materials 0600-S2-CKR-FMCM
Lecture
1. Classification and general characteristics of materials (natural and synthetic materials, inorganic and organic materials, ceramics, polymers, composites, metals and alloys, textiles, wood and paper).
2. Basic physicochemical properties of materials - morphology, microstructure, thermal properties, mechanical, optical, density, porosity, melting and boiling point, refractive index, viscosity, solubility, optical rotation.
3. Methods of determining the mechanical and optical properties of materials.
4. Methods for determining density, refraction index, melting point and boiling point.
5. Examination of material composition - elementary analysis (determination of the content of elements).
6. Chemical qualitative analysis of materials. Selected elements of analysis of inorganic substances (analysis of cations and anions in complex systems).
7. Selected elements of analysis of organic substances (methods of identification of functional groups in organic compounds).
8. Flame identification of polymeric materials
9. Color and color measurement of materials
10. Softening and flowing of amorphous plastics
11. Analysis of the degree of crystallinity of semicrystalline materials
12. Electrical conductivity of plastics
13. Methods of electrical conductivity measurement
14. Insulators and electrics - measurement of dielectric constant of insulating materials
15. New trends in polymer chemistry of electro-active materials
Lab
1. Determination of density of solids and liquids by hydrostatic balance, pycnometer and aerometer;
2. Determination of the melting point of organic substances using Boetius apparatus;
3. Determination of boiling point of organic substances during distillation;
4. Determination of the refractive index of a liquid by means of a refractometer;
5. Determination of solubility of selected inorganic and organic substances;
6. Determination of water content in solid samples;
7. Elemental analysis
8. Selected topics of chemical qualitative analysis - determination of inorganic substances in mixtures, analysis of functional groups in organic compounds;
9. Flame identification of plastics
10. Color determination of plastics
11. Softening temperature of thermoplastics according to Vicat method.
12. Densitometric titration of plastics.
