Seminar and diploma work 0600-S1-SPD

The seminar includes:
- providing knowledge necessary to write a thesis
- improving the ability to write works that meet the formal and substantive requirements set for diploma theses in the field of cosmetic chemistry
- familiarizing students with the principles of copyright law
- improving group work skills under the supervision of a supervisor
- improving the ability to search and process information necessary to independently write a diploma thesis
Each student gives two papers:
1. presenting general information about the work he performs (theoretical introduction)
2. purpose of the work, methods used and results obtained.
Each paper ends with a discussion of the seminar participants on its content and the quality of the presentation and statements.

Learning outcomes - knowledge

W1: the student has extended knowledge of the discipline in which the diploma thesis is being written, knows the basic literature on the subject in the field covering the subject of the thesis - K_W01, K_W02, K_W04 - K_W08, K_W10, K_W12 - K_W13, K_W15 - K_W16.

Learning outcomes - skills

U1: can use extended knowledge from basic branches of chemistry and use it creatively in the field of his specialty - K_U01. U2: can independently search for information in scientific and popular science magazines and chemical databases in Polish and English - K_U08.

Learning outcomes - social competencies

K1: knows the limitations of one's own knowledge and understands the need for further lifelong learning; is able to independently take actions to expand and deepen chemical knowledge - K_K01. K2: is able to formulate and present opinions on basic chemical issues and achievements in this discipline - K_K07. K3: Works systematically, achieves set goals, is systematic - K_K06. K4: Independently achieves set goals, makes difficult decisions, can independently use professional literature - K_K07.

Teaching methods

Classes of a conversational nature with multimedia presentations, papers by participants regarding the issues discussed at the seminar, and, above all, a master's thesis and the results of conducted research.

Prerequisites

Completion of chemistry subjects, problem-solving skills, knowledge of the principles of working with multimedia presentation programs and working in groups.

Assessment criteria

The student receives a grade for the course, which consists mainly of the evaluation of papers, the evaluation of written work, but also the evaluation of participation in discussions on problems presented by other seminar participants.
Works are assessed taking into account:
- formal structure and clarity of presentation,
- substantive correctness of the presented content,
- freedom of expression and ability to establish contact with listeners.
Assessment of papers and presentations verifies the achievement of the following effects: K_W01, K_W02, K_W03, K_W05, K_W08, K_U01, K_U08, K_K01, K_K07
Assessment of participation in discussions checks the achievement of results: K_U01, K_U08, K_K06, K_K07
The required threshold for a satisfactory grade - 50-60%, satisfactory plus - 61-65%, good 66-75%, good plus 76-81%, very good - 82-100%.
