Exercises with the use of appropriate computer programs (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Chemix, Chem Sketch, MS Excel) are concerned with the following issues:
1. Searching for helpful information on the Web - practical, classic problem-solving.
2. Processing chemical text in MS Word editor - practical, classic problem-solving.
3. Mathematical equations in the MS Word editor - - practical, classic problem-solving.
4. Drawing chemical apparatus diagrams in the Chemix program - practical, classic problem-solving.
5. Drawing and editing chemical formulas in Chem Sketch or Reaxys online editor programs - - practical, classic problem-solving.
6. Introduction to Excel - - practical, classic problem-solving.
7. Presentation in PowerPoint - practical, classic problem-solving.

Total student workload

Contact hours with teacher: - participation in laboratory classes – 25 hrs - consultations with an academic teacher – 5 hrs Self-study hours: - preparation for laboratory classes – 10 hrs - writing projects - 10 hrs Altogether: 50 hrs (2 ECTS)

W1: Understands the importance of legal use of software as well as scientific information sources on the Internet K_W05 W2: He knows how to use the Internet to find the necessary information in the field of chemistry and knows the rules for quoting K_W05

U1: Uses appropriate search engines to find information in the field of chemistry K_U04 U2: Can use the MS Word program for the proper preparation of chemical texts K_U05 U3: Uses the specialized Chem Sketch editor to draw chemical structure formulas and reaction equations K_U05 U4: Uses MS PowerPoint to make a multimedia presentation K_U05 U5: Uses MS Excel in chemical and statistical calculations as well as for creating charts K_U05
