Fundamentals of analytical chemistry 0600-S1-O-PCA
Lecture: Process of quantitative chemical analysis. Errors and statistical calculations of analytical results. Basic chemical laws are used in quantitative analysis. Introduction to gravimetric determinations. Fundamentals of quantitative analysis in solution. Titrimetric analysis: acid-base, precipitations, redox, complexometric - EDTA. Titration analyses in applications. Theory of indicators: acid – base, redox, complexometric and precipitations (Mohr, Volhard, Fajans).
Calculus/ Tutorial:
Analytical calculations in analysis: alkacimetric, redoxometric, precipitation, gravimetric. Statistical calculations of analysis results.
Laboratory
Chemical analyses performed by students individually on: gravimetry determination of barium by precipitation of barium sulfate, titrations: alkacimetric of strong acid and base, weak acid: acetic acid, sodium bicarbonate, argentometric titrations of chlorides by MOhr method, bromides by Fajans method and thiocyanates by Volhard method, redoximetric determination of oxalates, iron, and copper by iodometric method, complexometric determination of calcium, magnesium, and the mixture of calcium and magnesium, preparation of the standard solutions, of: acids, bases, KMnO4, sodium thiosulfate, silver nitrate, and EDTA, exercises individually performed by students.
