Processing and recycling of plastics

The lecture will cover the following topics:
- history of plastics and their impact on human culture and economy,
- Classification of plastics
- additives to plastics
- methods of obtaining polymers
- basic methods of plastics processing
- theoretical foundations of the plastics extrusion process
- discussion of plastics injection molding technique
- basics of plastics recycling
- machines and tools used in plastics processing
Laboratory:
- analysis of the color of plastics, the effect of pigment addition on the degree of plastic coloring
- determination of the softening temperature of plastics in accordance with applicable standards
- preparation of plastics of various compositions using a laboratory mixer-extruder.
- testing the mechanical strength of plastics in a uniaxial tensile test.
- mechanical recycling of plastic mixtures
- determination of water vapor barrier
- identification of plastics
- preparation of a final presentation
