Lecture:
It covers the following topics: Waste-free technologies. Waste and its properties. Waste - the scale of the problem, division, classification, properties and principles of waste management. Waste processing technologies. Recycling and energy recovery. REACH Directive. Incineration of municipal, hazardous and medical waste. Gasification and pyrolysis of waste. Treatment and use of water for municipal, consumer and industrial purposes. "Green Chemistry" - selected topics.
Laboratory:
Degassing and analysis of waste. Determination of flammable and non-flammable parts. Determination of volatile parts. Analysis of moisture. Analysis of total nitrogen, organic nitrogen and ammonium nitrogen. Determination of chloride content in waste. Determination of flash point. Leaching of solid waste in acidic and alkaline environments - extraction in a Soxhlet apparatus.

Assessment criteria:
Lecture: Final paper in the form of a report - W1-W3, U1, U2, K1, K2.
Laboratory: continuous assessment (completion and assessment of reports from performed exercises, ongoing preparation for classes and activity) - U2, U3, K1.
Assessment thresholds by the UMK regulations
Required thresholds for a satisfactory grade - 50-60%, satisfactory plus - 61-65%, good 66-75%, good plus 76-81%, and very good - 82-100%.
