Introduction to cosmetic chemistry 0600-S1-CM-PW7b-V

Lecture:
History of cosmetics. Basic nomenclature of cosmetic ingredients. Skin and hair care. Group of cosmetics: personal care, decorative and fragrances. Basic cosmetic formulations. Cosmetic regulations and safety .
Laboratory:
Preparation os solutions of surface active agents, rheology modification.
Preparation and optimisation of emulsion oil in water and water in oil.
Preparation and optimisation of sticks.
Microscopic observations of cosmetic formulations.
Testing of cosmetic action on the skin.

Total student workload

1. 10h lectures with a teacher, 2. 35h laboratory 2. 35h individual work 3. 45hpreparation for the exams. 4. Total 125h.

W1: student knows general chemistry and chemical terminology and nomencalature - K_W01. W2: knows theoretical and practical aspects of methods used in chemical analyses - K_W04. W3: knows the relationship between the structure and activity of chemical substances - K_W06.

U1: can analise chemical problems based on the knowledge - K_U01. U2: is able to plan experiment and use the equipment to execute research tasks - K_U04. U3: is able to use basic analytical methods in chemical sciences and interpretate the results - K_U05. U4: is able to characterize chemical problems using specific nomenclature - K_U08.
