Overview of the primary groups of natural active compounds, their naming rules, and the INCI nomenclature. Summary of the direct biosynthesis routes of selected natural substances and pharmacogenomic raw materials. Characteristics of secondary substances: flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenes, glycosides, essential oils, antibiotics, and vitamins. Isolation of active compounds from natural sources. Methods of characterizing active compounds
