Diploma laboratory 0600-S1-CM-LD

The course program includes a diploma laboratory, which is preparation for independent completion of a diploma thesis within the
following topics consistent with the subject matter of the Department/Department where the thesis is carried out. The aim of the course is
to prepare the student to independently formulate a research problem, create a work plan, study literature and its critical analysis, conduct
empirical research, collect and interpret data, formulate conclusions and write a diploma thesis on this basis. The student will be
familiarized with the methodology of creating works in the form of a scientific monograph - diploma thesis and will receive technical support
in independently preparing and editing the diploma thesis.

Contact hours with teacher - 125 hrs Individual work - 75 hrs Total: 200 hrs (8 ECTS)

Learning outcomes - knowledge

W1: Knows basic software packages for editing and analyzing experimental data (K_W04). W2: Knows the rules of safe work in a chemical laboratory (K_W21). W3: Has specific knowledge in the discipline enabling research work on the project (K_W01, K_W05, K_W06, K_W09).

Learning outcomes - skills

U1: Able to design, perform and describe an experiment related to the subject of the diploma thesis (K_U02, K_U03, K_U07). U2: Able to use literature and sources in both Polish and English (K_U13). U3: Able to properly handle chemical reagents and respond to various types of threats in the laboratory (K_U11)

Learning outcomes - social competencies

K1: Works independently and effectively with data, notices relationships and correctly draws conclusions. Thinks creatively for improvement existing or creating new solutions (K_K01, K_K02). K2: Understands the need for further education and deepening professional competences also after graduation (K_K05). K3: Follows the principles of professional ethics in conducting and describing experiments (K_K08)

Teaching methods

Laboratory work: - experience design, - carrying out experiments using various techniques and laboratory equipment appropriate for the selected laboratory and research topics, - analysis and processing of the obtained results, - working with scientific literature, - discussion.

Assessment criteria

The diploma laboratory is assessed by the supervisor/supervisor of the diploma thesis in terms of knowledge and skills. Continuous
assessment determined by the supervisor (commitment, conscientiousness, meeting deadlines and arrangements regarding the
experimental part of the diploma thesis, theoretical preparation, progress in writing the diploma thesis).
